I know you ladies have been waiting in anticpation to see my invites, sorry for making you wait but I am a horrible photographer. I still wasn't able to get great shots of them, the pictures do not do them any justice. I am very happy they are finished!!!
I typed the addresses on the envelope with a typewriter. I couldn't afford calligraphy and I didn't like the idea of printing them. Some came out better than others, but overall I am pretty happy with them. I used Frank Sinatra and Bet... Continue reading ...

Bridal Show
Ladies this was the best bridal show ever! First of all it was at my favorite Newport mansion - Rosecliff. If money was no object we would have been getting married there for sure! When my mom and I walked in we were greeted with a chocolate cup filled with a Godiva chocolate liquer shot. We then sampled some sort of lobster crustini and were given unlimited champagne (fixed with pear juice and rosemary - Mmmmm!) and lemon grass martinis (I think - at that point it was 11am and I was pret... So I saw this on a celeb planner blog ages ago and I loved how unique it was. I will be filling it with water, aspirin, gum, Qtips, some snacks, a lobster lollipop, and a Del’s RI lemonade packets as well as a welcome letter and some local tourist brochures. My mom wasn’t a fan of these. What do you think? Continue reading ...

One of the things I wanted at the wedding was to serve our guests family style. We were served this way at my Christmas party last year and it made for great conversation. Check out our Italian menu courtesy of our amazing caterer - Pranzi!
I did these cards on my gocco and they will be at each place setting.

When I first started planning I read in a magazine about having a photobooth at the wedding and I was sold! I love taking pictures and throught high school and college, I was the girl that had the camera and have all those crazy photo ops on film.
I will have vintage hats and other 20s era props for people to take into the booth. The booth prints 2 strips of 4 pics in B&W, and I get a CD of all images after the wedding. I will be working on a handmade guest book over the next couple of m... Continue reading ...

So I knew I wanted to find a vintage purse and I have been searching Ebay for the right one with no luck. I wanted something nice for the day of, but I also wanted to be able to use it again. That ruled out most of the vintage white beaded purses out there. I found this beauty in a vintage shop in Newport. It is from the 30s and the fabric is to die for! It is also a nice way to add some black in, since I didn’t end up with a dress that had a black sash. This definately fits the theme... Continue reading ...

What a find! Another knottie had bought these toasting flutes but her accent color was gold rather than silver. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure……
PS - I LOVE Kate Spade!!!
PPS - This is also how I got my Badgley Mishka shoes! Continue reading ...

I almost forgot about this one! I am taking an old metal tub and painting “MOONSHINE” on it to go with the theme. I will fill the bucket with these personalized water bottles. I bought glossy paper at Staples and used my Xyron to make them sticky. I will also use these in the OOT packages.
PS - I downloaded the template from the Vintage Glam blog. Continue reading ...

More checks! I did these on the Gocco and then Mandy glued the rhinestones on. These were done on silver business cards from Paper Source that I got for $2 a pack/25. I LOVE how they came out!!! Now I just need to do the corks and then address them when I get RSVPs in. I am thinking about trying to find a typewriter to type out the names.

Another check! Most of you saw these brooches when I first started planning and I recently found some strechy lace and sewed these headbands for my ladies! Now I am on the hunt for white stretch lace for me - not the easiest thing to find! This will go perfect with their dresses too since they have similar lace in the midsection.

I bought this urn several years ago and it serves as my dining room table centerpiece. Throughout most of the year it has red apples in it to tie into the red walls and accents in the room. For the holidays I put red ornaments in it. For the wedding it will house my cards. This project was very quick and I love how it turned out!

When my theme was coming together I got the idea to some cute napkin rings. I bought some white gerbera daisies, spraypainted them silver and then added black shiny glitter to the middle. Every plate will be white with a black napkin which will have individual menu cards inside the fold, and then a silver ribbon with this on top. I think this is really going to make my tables pop! Early in the wedding planning I was flipping through a Grace Ormonde magazine and saw a fabulous head table linen that looked like a couture wedding gown. From that day on, I had been looking online for images of what I wanted and could not find anything out there like this. I also wanted to keep the vintage touch in there so it was important to have lace and since my gown has a tulle hem, I wanted tulle as well.
So my grandmother spent several days covered in tulle to sew layers of tulle... Continue reading ...

So I took a break from blogging over the New Year but now that it is officially 2009 and I am nearing the 100 day and 3 month marks I have kicked into high gear for wedding planning. I have been holding out on some pictures and I will be adding much more over the next few week as projects get finished.
This first project was one that I added just last week thanks to one of my April knotties (thanks Dor!) who found the idea here http://www.stylemepretty.com/2008/10/29/diy-project-message... Continue reading ...

This was our big project for the day! Don’t mind the orange water beads - got them for free so I used them to practice. They will be clear. I will also be using black branches instead of silver to make the pearls pop. We also added a few crystals after these pictures were taken and they really pulled the whole look together. I am getting the vases from my florist (free) picking the branches myself (free) and the crystals/pearls will cost about $15 per table. I am thinking of adding s... Continue reading ...

Etsy is a site that I have fallen in love with during the wedding process. I have gotten so many nifty ideas and bought so many great things. Whenever I find something great on Etsy I’ll post here. Today I stumbled across Bonzie ( http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5104063 ) which sells gorgeous boleros and headpieces. My dress came with a lace jacket, otherwise I would be buying one of these gorgeous one of kind pieces. Take that David’s Bridal! Continue reading ...

Well time out of work has meant lots of time at my grandmothers. I have a few projects in the works that I will post in the next few weeks. Anyway today I went on a bit of a scavenger hunt and I came up with a few cool things:
Old metal lunchbox that I will put crayons and stuff in for the kids table:
I also found my old baby shoes which I will use to decorate the gift table.
These are antique buttons that belonged to my great grandmother. I already have a few projects in store for these... Continue reading ...

This is one of those things that Ithought I didn’t want and therefore didn’t budget for. What I didn’t realize was that I didn’t want yesterday’s boring video, but I DO want something unique and different to remember the day. Unfortuantely it may be too late as there is no chance I can get my budget to expand this late in the game. Hope it isn’t too late for you!
Check out these great SDE (same day edits) that can be found on stillmotionblog.com. I love how they are shot like... Continue reading ...

My grandmother gave me my something old and something borrowed today. It is her bridal hankercheif that was used over 50 years ago at her wedding. I feel like it is kind of a good luck charm since she has had such a happy, long marriage. The A is for Alice, but my other grandmother’s name is Annette so it has double meaning. Now I just need to find where to keep it during the ceremony. I suppose my cleavage wouldn’t be too classy?
Here is my grandmother on her wedding day - she was ... Continue reading ...

Today I took a trip to Grandma’s with my Gocco in hand. I have grown REAL close to my Gocco over the last few days and it has been the best investment. The project for today was cocktail coasters and napkins. I bought the coasters at www.blockheadstamps.com and I got the cocktail napkins at Christmas Tree Shops for $1 (50pk). What do you think?
