DIY Letterpress

March 10, 2009

I am really glad I just found this site after completing my own invites.  I, like many brides out there, salivated over letterpress stationary from the first few days of planning.  I also knew from the beginning that they were not in the budget.  If I thought there was a chance at DIYing at home, I would have done it in a heartbeat.  I can't imagine how long it would have taken me since the time per press is definately longer than the Gocco and I spent countless hours pressing those.  Who knows I may try to tackle this for a later project!!

I love the look of these.  I am sure it would take some practice before getting this kind of design to work.

Drumroll please.......

I know you ladies have been waiting in anticpation to see my invites, sorry for making you wait but I am a horrible photographer.  I still wasn't able to get great shots of them, the pictures do not do them any justice.  I am very happy they are finished!!!

I typed the addresses on the envelope with a typewriter.  I couldn't afford calligraphy and I didn't like the idea of printing them.  Some came out better than others, but overall I am pretty happy with them.  I used Frank Sinatra and Bette Davis stamps.  I stamped the return address with the gocco.

I used the gocco to print the rest of the invitation.  I love how the main invite came out!!!

On the back of the RSVP card I asked guest to leave us a note and I plan on displaying some of them at the wedding.

Newport Bridal Show

February 26, 2009
Ladies this was the best bridal show ever!  First of all it was at my favorite Newport mansion - Rosecliff.  If money was no object we would have been getting married there for sure!  When my mom and I walked in we were greeted with a chocolate cup filled with a Godiva chocolate liquer shot.  We then sampled some sort of lobster crustini and were given unlimited champagne (fixed with pear juice and rosemary - Mmmmm!) and lemon grass martinis (I think - at that point it was 11am and I was pretty buzzed)!  This show features the absolute BEST vendors this area has to offer and their displays did not disappoint.  I apologize for the quality of photos - they were taken on my cell phone.

First up was Sweet Berry Farm in Middletown.  I love this place and it really would make the best setting for a tent wedding.  I loved how she did the escort cards and the seed packets made such a cute favor display!

I also LOVE the eyelet linens from Rentals Unlimited.  It would make for such a gorgeous summer farm wedding!!!

Confections Bakery also had some AMAZING cakes.  They make the most unbelievable sugar paste flowers I have ever seen.  These cakes are definately magazine worthy!  I also tried a few of their flavors and trust me, they taste as good as they look!

Broadway Florist also some beautiful arrangements and displays.

I loved these tables settings from two local caterers.  The first caterer was Blackstone (who also was handing out the drinks).  The second table setting was a pink diva themed bar table.  Very fun and flirty!

Here is a quick snapshot of a Priscilla of Boston gown coming down the famous heart shaped staircase.

The rest of the show was at Ocean Cliff and the lighting wasn't very good so I only have a few pictures.  Here are some more amazing cakes from Scrumptions and Sin.

Another mini project done!  I will be hole punching the top (once I can find my hole punch!) and tying to the backs of the chairs for the ceremony.

OOT Baskets… Bags… Buckets?

February 25, 2009

So I saw this on a celeb planner blog ages ago and I loved how unique it was.  I will be filling it with water, aspirin, gum, Qtips, some snacks, a lobster lollipop, and a Del’s RI lemonade packets as well as a welcome letter and some local tourist brochures.  My mom wasn’t a fan of these.  What do you think?
